Not your typical fashionistas, the co-designers of Kara James each have a style that is completely different from the other. Cara loves clean lines, graphic prints and classic simplicity. Erinn prefers bright colors, funky design, no nonsense shoes and is an admitted enthusiast for anything novel. It is the fortuitous juxtaposition of these styles and personalities that brings the trademark whimsical savvy to Kara James. Inspired by the modern classics, they seek to bring a splash of color, passion and wit to a line of handbags rooted in elegant simplicity.

Derren...

Armed with a new idea and the seed for a business plan, Cara and Erinn approached Cara's brother, a venture capitalist at a local company, to see if they could reel him into their project. Derren, who happens to be married to a fellow handbag enthusiast, quickly agreed to partner with the women and now helps manage the venture.

The Name...

Taken from Cara's first name, Derren's middle name and the letter "K" in honor of Cara and Erinn's two youngest daughters, the name "Kara James" exemplifies the collaboration upon which the company was founded.
